Hoop Education is the premier facilitator of year-round youth basketball and sports programs in the Washington, DC area. HoopEd runs programs for school downtime -- spring break, holidays, and summer - and also offers fundamental clinics, after school programs, and special events on a year-round basis.We adhere to the philosophy that sports are played to have FUN, and that many of life's greatest lessons have been learned on playing fields and courts. The founder's passion and genuine love for sports, particularly basketball, is something kids have been responding to for more than a decade. While fun is always at the top of the agenda, learning and getting better are always the priority at HoopEd events.JONATHAN SCRIBNERFounder & President Coach Jonathan Scribner, Founder & PresidentIn June 2007, Jonathan moved across the Nation's Capital to begin his tenure as Girls' Varsity Head Coach for St. John's College High School. Under his leadership, the Lady Cadets have become a regional and nationally-recognized program. Numerous alumni have gone on to play collegiately following a successful experience with Coach Scribner and his staff. St. John's won the 2010-11 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships while en route to its first City Title honors under Scribner's leadership. Jonathan was later recognized by his peers as the WCAC Coach of the Year for the team's outstanding accomplishments during the 2010-11 season. Before founding HoopEd, Jonathan spent 12 years of his career as Director of Operations for One on One Basketball, where he ran basketball clinics, camps, and programs for kids and adults throughout the greater metropolitan area. Now Jonathan has taken his life worth of experience and dedication to kids and sports to found and direct HoopEd. DAVID BELLStaff Director Coach David Bell, Staff DirectorHis love for the game began in upstate New York where he played four years of high school basketball before starring at Washington College. Following his playing days, David transitioned into coaching and has since served as head coach at the AAU travel and high school levels, going as far as the state regionals while coaching boys' high school basketball in his native New York. David coaches the Maryland Classics (AAU) team and is presently Head Junior Varsity Girls' Coach and a Varsity Assistant Coach at St. John's College High School. Together with Coach Scribner, David has served youth in the greater Washington, DC area for more than 10 years. He began his career with One on One Basketball, and has directed multiple camps, skills classes, and after-school programs for HoopEd. DOUG HOMERManaging Director HoopEd President Jonathan Scribner is proud to announce the hiring of Douglas Homer as the company's new Managing Director. A native of East Williston, NY, Mr. Homer joins the company following an 18-year career that includes senior management positions with FieldTurf Tarkett, U.S. Soccer Federation Foundation and the U.S. Peace Corps. Mr. Homer will manage day-to-day operations, new business development, including sponsorship recruitment and account servicing, as well as all aspects pertaining to sales and marketing. JEREMY BURDENTechnical Director Coach Jeremy Burden, Technical DirectorHe spends most of his free time coaching multiple AAU travel basketball teams and has served as a Varsity Assistant Coach for the Lady Cadets of St. John's College High School. He has mentored a number of great high school basketball players over the years, which includes Lindsay Allen, Melissa Echols, Mariah Jones and Mooriah Rowser, among others. JODI JACKSONArea Director Coach Jodi Jackson, Area DirectorTrained and certified as a teacher. Coach Jackson teaches physical education classes at Our Lady of Victory in Bethesda. He believes that his greatest gift as a teacher is his ability to understand, guide, and teach young people in a way that has made him beloved in the area. TORI MOTENArea Director Tori Moten, Area DirectorCurrently, Tori is the Director of Coaching and Player development with Classics Basketball and is in her sixth year as the Head Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac. Tori identifies well with all ages of children because of her energy, spirit and passion for the game. Tori's childcare experience, coaching and teaching background have proved to be a tremendous attribute to HoopEd. |
